Bio

Rory Cloud is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and music educator based in Santa Cruz, CA.

Presently, Rory collaborates as a guitarist, vocalist and co-arranger with singer-songwriter and multi-media artist Allyson Makuch in a project called Echoes & Artifacts. More information about the band and upcoming releases can be found at echoesandartifacts.com

In addition to his work with Echoes & Artifacts, Rory currently performs as a touring and recording guitarist for Josiah Johnson (founding member of The Head and the Heart) as well as Santa Cruz based songwriter Nels Andrews, and Bay Area Americana group the T Sisters.

Rory was also a founding member of the Bay Area based Americana group Quiles & Cloud, along with singer-songwriter Maria Quiles and bassist Oscar Westesson. Rory and Maria released their debut album  "Long Time Coming" as a duo in 2012, and later expanded the project adding Oscar Westesson on upright bass and vocals in 2013.

The group recorded 2 more studio albums as a trio along with special guest performers, the first "Seminole Star" with Cookie Marenco at Blue Coast Records which included guest performances from Julian Müller on vocals and piano, Irene Sazer on violin, and Megan Slankard on vocals.

Quiles & Cloud's final album "Shake Me Now", released in 2017, was produced by Alison Brown at Compass Records in Nashville, TN, and featured guest appearances by Stuart Duncan on violin and lap steel, and Bryon Larrance on percussion.

Throughout his decades as a performer, Rory has collaborated and recorded with dozens of other artists from around the US and abroad.

In addition to his work as a performer and session musician, Rory has been a music educator for 20 years, and has taught thousands of one-on-one guitar lessons with people of all ages.
